MOVIE
Munk
Where: Netflix
Herman Mankevich, for Munk's friends, is locked up on a farm in the wilderness and must write a script for the film, which will later become the greatest in history, in three (or better, two) months. David Fincher's new film, directed by his father, is the story of the forgotten co-creator of Citizen Kane. A dozen historical characters, b / w, delicate work with references to old cinema - "Munk" is like a film study textbook: it will certainly give a special pleasure to those who know the main names of Golden Hollywood by mouth.
THEATER
Nabucco
When: 10 December
Where: Mariinsky Theater
The Mariinsky Theater is hosting celebrity guests this week. Following Anna Netrebko, Placido Domingo will appear on the stage to perform the title role in Verdi's opera about the Babylonian king.
Dance open
When: from December 10
Where: Theater "Baltic House", St. Petersburg
After the forced online marathon in April, the Dance Open festival returns to offline. The festival will begin with the production of "Ural Intro" - a triptych by Ural Ballet. The program will continue with Anyuta, an updated version of the legendary 1982 ballet, and will end the premiere parade Dance Floor - a work by Jeroen Verbruggen to the music of the Swede Stefan Levin, referring to the American dance marathons of the 1920s. Read more about each performance of the new Dance Open season in our guide.
EXHIBITIONS
Cecil Beaton and the Cult of the Stars
When: from 9 December
Where: The main headquarters of the Hermitage
The first Russian retrospective of Cecil Beaton, photographer and costume designer, opens tomorrow at the State Hermitage Museum. For more than fifty years of his career, he managed to create a portrait gallery of a huge scale and scope: from Hollywood stars of the first magnitude to bohemian artists - regulars of London's Soho; from ballet dancers, of which he was a connoisseur, to fashion designers of the first magnitude - Coco Chanel and her main rival Elsa Schiaparelli. His heroes included Charles James, Cristobal Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent. At the exhibition, the general partner of which is DLT, about 100 works by Beaton will be presented, and a special section of the exposition will be devoted to filming for the Russian Ballets.
CITY
Vintage Marketplace Pop-up
When: December 11 - 13
Where: "Tsvetnoy"
Vintage Marketplace spends the year with a holiday market - of course, with everything you need to step into a happy future. This time 60 vintage projects from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev and other cities will take part in the pop-up. Among them are collectors of vintage accessories, retailers of archival Dior and Fendi handbags, as well as projects that are fanatical about the aesthetics of the 90s and 00s. In order not to lose your head from the abundance of sequins and feathers, we strongly recommend checking with the wishlist.
LECTURES
Theater as a model of the Universe
Where: Okko
A course of lectures from the director and playwright Ivan Vyrypaev about the theater. Moving from one element to another, talking about the traditions, goals and methods of theatrical art, about the interaction of the stage and the audience, the director gradually constructs the universe of the theater and demonstrates its relationship with other disciplines. “Our course is only about theater, but also about architecture, art, science and revolution. ART & DESIGN
Architect Dasha Vasilkova and the Family SMA Foundation have made a good collection of furniture
20 wards of the "SMA Families" (spinal muscular atrophy) foundation took part in the creation of the We Art 2020 furniture collection for the Reda brand. Its founder is the Moscow architect Daria Vasilkova. Together with the children, she made six dressers, each of which is decorated with ceramic tiles and children's drawings. On the dressers, the guys, whose physical activity decreases every year, left their dreams: about a dog that you can walk yourself, about sneakers in which you can run, about Paris, where you can go. Those who are no longer able to paint sent their old drawings. For one of the participants, the picture was drawn by the older sister, depicting the girl as healthy. The cost of We Art 2020 series dressers varies from 120,000 to 250,000 rubles, all proceeds from the sale will be transferred to the “SMA Family” fund. The collection can be ordered online from December 8th.
