On November 28 and 29, on the other stage of the Sovremennik Theater, the premiere of a performance based on one of the most poignant plays of the 70s will take place. The young director Georgy Surkov turned to rethinking the text of Alla Sokolova. The choice of material is not accidental: the leitmotif of the 2020-2021 season at Sovremennik is the study of the theater's past. Therefore, artists of different generations are involved in the performance: Ilya Lykov, Tatyana Lyalina, Marina Khazova, Inna Timofeeva and Ksenia Chigina.

Alla Sokolova's Faryatyev's Fantasies have long been a modern classic. The Sovremennik presented its version of the play based on this play back in 1977: Lilia Tolmacheva staged the play with Igor Kvasha, Alla Pokrovskaya and Marina Neyelova. The latter got the role of the younger sister of the main character - Luba, while in the movie (film by Ilya Averbakh with Andrei Mironov in the title role) she played Shura.

According to director Georgy Surkov, the main theme of the play is the cruelty that permeates human destinies. Cruelty is not as another pole of love, but as a comfortable form of interaction between people - even the closest ones, those who, it would seem, should be sensitive and kind. The creators of the play investigated the deep nature of cruelty, tried to figure out what is deformed in the human heart, making it callous and close.
