The Dance Open opens with a Shakespearean phantasmagoria performed by the Dortmund Ballet. Choreographer Alexander Ekman is an absurdist, a lover of complex technical solutions and a connoisseur of entertainment. On his Swan Lake, the Norwegian opera stage was drowned in tons of water, and during the ballet The Game, sparkling plastic balls poured onto the audience. What to expect from the fabulous "Dream"? Flying beds, a giant altar, outlandish inhabitants of the underwater world and new choreography - due to the difficulties that, for obvious reasons, are associated with the tour of the production, Ekman always changes something in the performance.

An interpretation of a children's tale by the Belgian choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen, composed especially for the Leipzig Ballet. Since both versions of the text are taken as the basis, as presented by the Brothers Grimm and La belle au bois dormant Charles Perrault, get ready to see a psychedelic revelry of fantasy on the stage: here people-mattresses - inhabitants of an enchanted castle, and aggressive fairy-sorceresses, and the prince as from Japanese manga, and emphatically eroticized wolves - in these images Verbruggen materializes Aurora's long and confused dream.

Dutch National

When: April 24 and 25

The main aesthetes and "collectors" of talented dancers, the national ballet of the Netherlands, are bringing their program of the new season to St. Petersburg. The performances will be presented by geniuses of plotless choreography George Balanchine, Hans van Manen and William Forsyth. Observe carefully how movement and music illustrate each other in their work.

The Tie Break team from Lyon prepared the burlesque Lobby - a mixture of street acrobatics, jazz musicals, satirical pantomime and circus shows. The troupe was one of the first to prove that street dance is worthy of the academic stage, and now the best theaters in the world are ready to host shows, on which the stage turns into a hotel lobby.
