After a pandemic that suddenly hit us, many have rethought their way of life, value system and approach to work. Riccardo Tisci was no exception, who spent the entire quarantine in such reflections. And this is very noticeable in the new Burberry collection.

What are the first associations that the brand name evokes? Of course, the beige trench coat and the famous check. Until now, they have been released every season. The new show has become in a sense historical - these elements are, by and large, not in it. Traditional trench coats have been significantly rethought, and the cage is visible only on the lining of a couple of things. The famous Burberry raincoats were completely deconstructed - Riccardo Tisci supplemented them with prints, leather sleeves, denim inserts, or completely stripped them of the sleeves and turned them into vests. It is a very bold step to do so freely with something so iconic for the brand. However, the designer is no stranger: he once turned everything upside down in Givenchy, leaving no associations with the couture of the 50s and Audrey Hepburn. At Burberry, he has acted very cautiously so far, but apparentlyready to spread its wings and move on to drastic measures.

The main source of inspiration for Tisha this time was nature - not surprising at all, considering that he spent the entire quarantine in his house on Lake Como and actively enjoyed the local picturesque landscapes. The show itself took place in the forest, and the "spectators" were only silent trees. In the things, there were many different references to the sea and its inhabitants: fishing boots, rubber raincoats, prints with the image of mermaid tails, draperies in the form of shells on dresses, and basques resembling fish tails in shape. And, of course, the most nautical color is blue: in about half of the shows, there was at least one element in its various shades.

In addition to the sudden metamorphosis of the trench coat and the unexpected location, the show surprised by two more things: a performance by the artist Anne Imhof (she also performed the soundtrack to the show) and a live broadcast on the Twitch video game streaming platform. And if the first is still quite understandable (Riccardo Tisci is his own man in the world of contemporary art, which is only his constant collaborations with the "grandmother of performance" Marina Abramovich), then the stream on the gaming site equally surprised both people from the world of fashion and the regulars of the site themselves: in the chat every now and then there were perplexed comments from users who accidentally got there. However, all brands are now actively looking for new tools for communicating with consumers, so Burberry's attempt to interest gamers may well later turn out to be a very reasonable move - after all,at first, no one believed in TikTok either.
