Ugly shoes will not surprise us today: looking for charm in classically ugly things is one of the notable hobbies of designers. The most striking Cinderella story of recent years happened to the Crocs. Christopher Kane became the fairy godmother for rubber slippers, which in Russia are mostly associated with country leisure. In 2016, he released a collaboration with Crocs, decorating them with stones and painting them in marble. Demna Gvasalia also supported him - on the basis of crocs, he made shoes on huge platforms and pumps. And in the end, Crocs still fell in love with mods - the youngest and most fearless, who do not need a shield of irony to wear them. And now the fashion turn is waiting, it seems, ugg boots. Yes, the very same “felt boots” that were worn with plush suits in 2000s - and which everyone considered, although comfortable, but terribly ugly.

The first sign was the announcement of the upcoming collaboration between UGG and Telfar - the very brand that makes the most popular - and most difficult to obtain - bags of 2020. Telfar Clemens today is definitely one of those designers who can make anything fashionable. And there is no doubt that with his version of Uggs, this is exactly what will happen. He announced his upcoming collaboration with a snapshot on Instagram - and immediately raised the storm, although the results of the work should be released in 2021. By the way, Clemens is not working with ugg boots for the first time: they were already on his catwalk in 2010 and 2014, when no one followed the brand so closely.

Soon after, we saw another unexpected collaboration with UGG - at the Molly Goddard show during London Fashion Week. The British makes fluffy "princess" dresses - the most popular is pink, of which you probably remember the Villanelle in Killing Eve. The stars also love them off-screen: for example, Rihanna and Zendaya. In the spring collection of Goddard, three models were found at once based on the good old ugg boots: classic felt boots, embroidered with contrasting curls, platform mules and curly slippers.

And this, they say, is not all: according to rumors, UGG is preparing another collaboration - which is still unknown. We at least like Goddard's version, but will ugg boots really change their image and become fashionable - and not just comfortable shoes for the airport or walking the dog? We'll see.
