For a long time no one believes in the myths that complete elimination of fat is the key to weight loss. Along with proteins and carbohydrates, fats are essential nutrients for the normal functioning of the body. However, fats are different, and not all of them can be beneficial. The healthiest fat in existence is without doubt extra virgin olive oil. It is rich in omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, vitamins A and E, and many other nutrients that have positive effects on everything from skin condition to heart health. The high content of antioxidants provides reliable protection against free radical damage and significantly slows down the aging process.
How does olive oil contribute to weight loss?

Despite the fact that olive oil is pure fat, it not only does not lead to weight gain (in moderation, of course), but also helps to reduce and maintain it. How does this happen? Olive oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids - “healthy” fats. Numerous studies have confirmed that regular consumption of unsaturated (with complete or at least partial elimination of saturated) fatty acids leads to healthy weight loss and the normalization of many processes in the body.
Additionally, olive oil is a source of medium chain triglycerides, or MCTs. These are lipid compounds that are easily broken down by the body and have a beneficial effect on metabolism. Due to its highly digestible and assimilable structure, the body uses MCTs as fuel, rather than storing them in body fat.
Being a high-calorie product, olive oil saturates the body for a long time and prevents hunger, which significantly reduces the risk of overeating. Add extra virgin olive oil to fish, meat, vegetables and use as salad dressing (see the healthiest recipes here).
