Video: 20 Years Since The Death Of Diana: What Was The Beloved Princess Of Great Britain
In 1997, at the age of 36, the ex-wife of Prince Charles and the mother of Princes William and Harry, Princess Diana, née Diana Francis Spencer, died. On August 31, a car with her, her boyfriend Dodi al-Fayed and driver Henri Paul crashed in a tunnel in front of the Alma bridge on the Seine River in Paris. The incident became a tragedy on a global scale: the news instantly spread through the media from the UK to Australia. Thousands of people lined up at Kensington Palace to honor the memory of the people's favorite.
The people's Princess, as she was usually called, graduated from nursing courses and worked as a teacher at school in her youth, and after marriage she began to actively engage in charity work. Her life in the family of British monarchs was not easy: Queen Elizabeth II did not greatly favor her son's wife for her closeness to the people and frequent disregard for etiquette, and after 10 years of marriage, it turned out that all this time Prince Charles had a relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles. However, this only strengthened the love of the British people for Diana: for them, she became the personification of a strong person who can overcome any obstacles of fate, whether it be the constant persecution of the paparazzi or the betrayal of a loved one.
