Video: An Exhibition Dedicated To Gabrielle Chanel Will Be Held In Venice

A lot of books have been written about the great Mademoiselle - both truthful and not very, but to find out which authors the main French revolutionary was read by, means to comprehend her personality even deeper. This issue was addressed within the framework of the Culture Chanel project: it has existed for almost 10 years and introduces the public to various aspects of the life and work of Gabrielle Chanel through the prism of the culture of her era. The project travels to different cities (exhibitions were organized in Paris, Beijing, Shanghai and Moscow), and Venice was not chosen by chance: the designer often visited this city and, like many other people of art, looked for inspiration here. It is also no secret that Chanel maintained relationships with many cultural figures. In her Paris apartment, the bookshelves were full of the collected works of Plato, Virgil, Dante and her contemporary Jean Cocteau. On displayLa donna che legge (The Woman Who Reads) - held at the Ca 'Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art in Venice from September 17 to January 8 - will feature memoirs, drawings, photographs, letters and books reflecting a deep spiritual world of the designer. Fans of the brand are jubilant: many of the more than three hundred objects will be shown for the first time, including her personal collection of jewelry and perfumes.
