The news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have resigned from their royal duties was the highlight of the year for the royal family. Of course, this precedent brings to mind a similar story that happened more than 80 years ago - the famous abdication of the throne of Prince Edward VIII, who gave the throne to his brother for the woman he loved. It is interesting that these two stories have a direct connection: if Edward had not renounced the throne back in 1936, Elizabeth II's father George VI would not have ascended the throne and the princes Harry and William would never have become the main players of the royal family. However, Harry was in any case not a direct successor to the throne. His gesture with Meghan is an attempt by two loving people to live away from the scrutiny of the press and without the need to participate in the official events prescribed by royal duties. This is how the newly minted Duke and Duchess of Windsor spent their days from 36 to 72 (the date of Edward's death). They lived in the Bahamas and in France (between the suburbs of Paris and the south), traveled to Italy and America, took part in dog shows with their favorite pugs, danced and enjoyed life. We decided to revisit these old photos to honor the first prince who gave up the crown for love.giving up the crown for love.giving up the crown for love.
