Edema is not a pleasant phenomenon. We all woke up at least once with a puffy face the morning after a party or dinner party. However, if the swelling becomes chronic, this is a reason to think. The essence of the problem is violation of outflow and fluid retention in the body or certain organs. It is clear that this phenomenon is a signal that something strange is happening in the body, which is time to pay attention to and, if possible, correct it. Edema is often caused by improper eating habits, which contribute to fluid retention in the body. We will tell you what changes you should make to your lifestyle to get rid of puffiness.

1. Drink plenty of water

The biggest misconception is that edema is formed due to an excess of fluid in the body - the opposite is true. If our body is dehydrated, and we do not give it enough water, it makes every effort to retain at least the liquid that is. Hence, its delay in the body. Dealing with this problem is extremely simple: you need to keep track of how much and what you drink. Doctors recommend drinking 30 ml of liquid per 1 kg of body weight, that is, an average of 2-2.5 liters per day. However, two liters of liquid means two liters of clean water. Tea, coffee, juices and soft drinks do not count - on the contrary, they only dehydrate the body, so you should not abuse them.

2. Do not overuse salty foods

Salt holds fluid remarkably well, preventing excess fluid from leaving the body. It remains only to control the amount of salt consumed. You can eat a bucket of popcorn at the cinema once or taste salty delicacies all evening, but as an exception to the usual regime. On a daily basis, you need to monitor the amount of salt consumed in order to avoid the appearance of discomfort.

3. Don't drink sugary alcohol

Alcoholic drinks are in principle one of the main causes of puffiness, but when they combine alcohol and sugar, the threat doubles. Beautiful multi-colored cocktails, which contain solid liquors and syrups, are a sure way to terrible edema. At parties, choose dry wine or vermouth: and the taste of the drink will open up brighter, and you will look much better in the morning.

4. Eliminate fast carbohydrates

If puffiness is your chronic problem, then some foods may be worth avoiding. These include fast carbohydrates like sugar, white bread, chocolate and other sweets. The amount of these compounds necessary for the body can be perfectly obtained from whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Eliminating fast carbohydrates will not only help to cope with edema, but also save you a couple of extra pounds.

5. Move more

Low physical activity can also cause fluid retention in the body. If you sit in the office all day, then sit in transport on the way home, and then sit at home, then blood circulation and lymph flow slow down and stagnant water forms. During the working day, try to get up at least once an hour and walk around the room for 2-3 minutes, and between the elevator and the stairs, always choose the second. The result will not be long in coming: the puffiness will decrease and the state of health will improve.
