As the name implies, dry fasting means giving up not only all types of food, but also water. This sets the practice apart from other fasting (where water in large quantities is required) and makes the most extreme of them. Dry fasting is practiced for the purpose of cleansing the body and only after consulting a doctor, because for many people such a long refusal of liquids or food may be contraindicated. The standard duration of dry fasting is 36 hours. During this time, the body has time to "reboot", mobilize its resources and cleanse itself of toxins and toxins. Possible benefits

Of course, as a result of a complete refusal of food, weight loss is inevitable. This is mainly due to the high consumption of calories: new energy is not supplied with food, and the body is forced to use its own resources. In addition, the lack of liquid will certainly affect the figure on the scales and the reflection in the mirror. Since even simple water is prohibited during dry fasting, the body will use its own water for life, as a result of which you literally "dry up", edema disappears, and muscle relief may appear.

In addition, some experts are confident that dry fasting will have a beneficial effect on skin condition. Lack of food, and therefore sugar, can make the skin cleaner. Some studies also suggest that intermittent practice of dry fasting can significantly slow down the aging process, but this fact has not yet been found enough scientific evidence.

A complete rejection of food and water literally restarts the body, which can have a positive effect on the health of the digestive tract, liver and kidneys. The main thing - do not forget that the maximum duration of dry fasting should not exceed 36 hours.

Side effect

Of course, refusing food and water is a practice, to put it mildly, extreme, we do not recommend resorting to it on your own. If you nevertheless decide on such a cleansing of the body, be sure to consult with your doctor, since dry fasting may be contraindicated for you for some health indicators.

If your doctor approves of your desire to try dry fasting, be prepared for some side effects. First, it is weakness, which is not surprising since you put your body in a stressful environment and it begins to struggle to save resources. For this reason, experts recommend practicing dry hunger on days when you can afford to be at home all day without any activity.

Working days are not suitable for dry hunger, not only because of the risk of increased weakness, but also because of the almost complete inability to concentrate. Our brain feeds on glucose, in the absence of which performance and concentration are greatly reduced.

These side effects are unpleasant, but they are not dangerous to you. However, during dry fasting, nausea, severe stomach pain, and fainting may occur. In this case, you should not continue the practice, as the consequences can be dangerous.

Exit from dry fasting

The recovery time from dry fasting should be twice as long as the fasting itself. If we are talking about a 36-hour fast, then you will need exactly three days to exit.

The way out of dry fasting is better to start with a small amount of water, and then after a while you can start drinking juices. Freshly squeezed citrus juices are best suited for getting out of dry fasting. In the first couples, it is worth diluting them with water, because during the time of abstinence from food, the body becomes susceptible to what enters it after the fasting process, therefore, you need to be very careful in choosing products and taste intensity.

The first day after the end of the fast, you can drink only water and natural juices (if you are allergic to citrus fruits, then pomegranate juice is perfect). From about the middle of the second day, you can start eating plant foods - vegetables and fruits - preferably not starchy and not subjected to heat treatment. On the third day, all the same vegetables can be boiled, steamed or stewed without adding oil.

If in everyday life you do not adhere to a vegetarian diet, then it is recommended to return meat to the diet no earlier than a week after fasting. A week on plant foods will enhance the effect of fasting and help cleanse the body.
