Video: Breakfast At Tiffany's
The brainchild of Ray Kawakubo, the London Dover Street Market store, which has grown into a global network, at first glance seems incompatible with the brand that has become famous for classic and well-conservative jewelry. However, the creators of the limited collection Out of Retirement are confident that beauty is born at the intersection of tradition and a creative approach to business.
The collaboration resulted in eight exquisite jewelry and nine gift items, including a pill box stylized as a container for Chinese food, a trouser clip for cyclists, a tabletop puzzle, money clips made of 18-karat gold, made in the form of a mail envelope or a dollar sign, and also a silver horn and (attention!) a party cap.
All 17 items were created from archival sketches from Tiffany & Co.'s permanent collection. Blue Book (published since 1845), reformed to reflect new technologies and trends. A trio of sculpted diamond rings and bracelets, for example, have acquired graphic cuts in collaboration with Dover Street Market. Pay special attention to gold earrings with diamonds and tsavorites. They are inspired by cufflinks from the 1971 collection.
The curious Out of Retirement items will be displayed in display cases inspired by the work of longtime Tiffany & Co. collaborator, designer Gene Moore, surrounded by wooden figures, hand casts and fabulous porcelain animals. The collection will hit Dover Street Market (New York, Tokyo and London) this month and will be available for purchase through January next year.
