Video: The Best Exercises To Slow Down Aging
There are many different ways to slow down the aging process: proper nutrition, proper care, beauty treatments and, as it was recently revealed, training. This is evidenced by a study published in the European Heart Journal. It turned out that some types of physical activity are excellent at fighting premature aging. It's not just about maintaining good physical shape at any age - such training can really prolong youth at the cellular level. How this is possible, we tell in our material.
How it works?
Now I have to refresh my memory of something from the school course in biology, namely, information about telomeres. Telomeres are the ends of chromosomes that have a protective function for all cells in the body. With age, telomere length begins to shrink, resulting in cells showing signs of aging, both internally (more fragile bones, weaker blood vessels and the heart) and externally (wrinkles and sagging skin).
So, the length of telomeres can be increased with the help of two types of loads: aerobic and high-intensity interval. The former is running, ellipsoid, exercise bike and any type of cardio training, the latter is better known as HIIT.This type of training has long become a favorite of sports adherents around the world. In just 15 minutes of this workout, you can burn a record number of calories, thanks to the high heart rate. The idea is to alternate between high intensity exercise and rest or less intense exercise. For example, you run 200 meters at your maximum speed, then rest for a minute, and so on over and over again. Despite its short duration, HIIT helps to work out the whole body and is more exhausting than the classic one and a half hours in the gym.
Although the study has not shown the effectiveness of strength training for increasing telomere length, experts do not recommend giving up them. In addition to changes in chromosomes, by about the age of 30, a natural loss of muscle mass begins in the body - sarcopenia (we described in detail here how to avoid it). Therefore, to prolong youth, salt training is just as necessary as cardio - it just affects the body in different ways. Ultimately, preserving youth is a complex process that includes nutrition (see here for a list of anti-aging foods), exercise and proper care.
