Video: The Story Of Princess Diana's Unknown Wedding Dress That Never Saw The Light Of Day

The famous wedding dress of Princess Diana is known to everyone - it was even nicknamed “the dress of the millennium”. A luxurious outfit made of silk taffeta with vintage lace, embroidered with real sea pearls, inspires brides and designers around the world to this day - and the costume designers of the TV series "Crown" even decided to repeat it exactly, which took them 600 hours of handmade work and as much as 100 meters of lace. True, not everyone knows that in addition to him, the Princess of Wales had another outfit prepared, which no one ever saw.

This was recently admitted by one of the designers of Diana's wedding dress, David Emanuel. According to him, the wedding (and especially the bride's dress) was surrounded by the strictest level of secrecy - not a single detail should have been leaked to the press in advance. Because of this, Emanuel even tore up the sketch for the wedding dress immediately after receiving Lady Dee's approval. And David, with his wife at that time and business partner Elizabeth, created a spare dress in case the original somehow gets into the tabloids. Of course, everything was done to prevent this - but no one is immune from accidents. So the royal family decided to prepare a plan "B" in advance. According to the designer, the "duplicate" was very similar to the original dress - but much less luxurious and detailed. It was made from the same silk taffetabut without the vintage lace. But the neck was also decorated with lush frills.

By the way, that outfit was never finished - fortunately, it was not needed. However, the very fact of its existence adds even more mystery to the British royal family. How many more of these secrets can we not know? As a result, no one saw this outfit - and not only because Diana never put it on. The thing is, the spare dress … is gone. After the royal wedding, everyone was so busy that they completely forgot about him - and then he was simply not found. The creators themselves think that they could have sent it to the warehouse or sold it to another client - but they can no longer remember for sure. So it is quite possible that some bride was honored to marry in the clothes of Princess Diana - but she, most likely, does not even know about it. By the way, there was even a third dress in this story - but it was already an exact copy of the onein which the Princess of Wales eventually married. It was sewn in case the original outfit accidentally gets torn or gets dirty. After the death of the princess, it was included in the collection of Madame Tussauds.
