Video: What Do Louis Vuitton, The Hermitage And Pushkin Museum Have In Common?
The Louis Vuitton Foundation has a particularly important mission: this fall it will show Paris about 30 masterpieces by Malevich, Rodchenko, Tatlin and other masters of the Russian avant-garde from the collection of the great patron S.I.Schukin. Since the late 1890s, this major Moscow industrialist was a part of the Parisian circle of connoisseurs of impressionism, post-impressionism and contemporary art, became famous for his friendship with gallery owners and artists (in particular, with Claude Monet and Henri Matisse) and a collection of the most radical art of that time.
Now Bernard Arnault is making a reciprocal step: honoring Shchukin, the foundation he heads is preparing to open one of the brightest exhibitions in the official program “Year of Franco-Russian Cultural Tourism”. In addition, the exhibition, curated by Anna Baldassari, will be accompanied by dance, music and film events - all about cultural exchanges between France and Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. The opening of the Paris exhibition will take place as part of the most active art week of the year: everyone who travels to France for the FIAC contemporary art fair will also find the first days of its work.
An extremely important partnership agreement between the Louis Vuitton Foundation, the State Hermitage and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts was officially signed this afternoon at a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow: the active participation and enthusiasm of all parties made the project a success.
Exhibition “Exhibition“Masterpieces of New Art. Collection of S. I. Shchukin. State Hermitage - State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin”will be held at the Louis Vuitton Foundation from October 20, 2016 to February 20, 2017.
