It is possible to start a new cultural marathon together with the Tretyakov Gallery soon after the January holidays: the 2016 program opens with an exhibition of Tair Salakhov, one of the leaders of the "harsh style". His brutal painting will be on display at the Corps of Engineers from January 22 to March 20. In the new year, the Tretyakov Gallery also plans to open its storerooms: in April, an exhibition of contemporary art will start on Krymsky Val, covering the period from the 1950s to the 2000s. Choosing the key works of this time, the curators decided to minimize the public's rejection or misunderstanding of advanced art as much as possible: one can clarify the artistic subtleties for oneself or again admire the works of favorite Russian authors for almost a year and a half: the exposition will be open until September 2017.

One of the most important events of spring will be the exhibition of Wassily Kandinsky: on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the abstractionist, the Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val and the State Hermitage have collected works that were last shown together in 1989, and supplemented the exposition with the multimedia project "The Path to Abstraction." The exhibition "Counterpoint: Composition VI - Composition VII

The main pride of 2016 is the exhibition “Roma Aeterna. Masterpieces of the Vatican Pinakothek. Bellini, Raphael, Caravaggio ", which will be held in the Corps of Engineers from October (the exact date has not yet been announced) until January 15, 2017. It is no secret that the treasures of the Vatican museums rarely leave their native walls, especially in such a composition: Moscow will be lucky to see works of the 12th-18th centuries from the permanent exhibition of the museum, including works by Raphael, Caravaggio, Giovanni Bellini, Guercino, Pietro Perugino, Guido Reni and Nicolas Poussin. The plans of the Tretyakov Gallery do not end there: there are also exhibitions by Ivan Aivazovsky, Geliy Korzhev, Adelaida Pologova and many other art events ahead of us.
