Philippe Parreno is undoubtedly one of the brightest painters in France over the past twenty years. Exploring the boundaries between reality and our understanding of it, he uses the means of various media: radio, television and cinema, as well as information technology. In Russia, he is loved above all for the exhibition in the temporary pavilion of the Garage, where his film Marilyn was shown in the spring of 2013. Abroad, visitors to the Georges Pompidou Center, Fondation Louis Vuitton, Sharjah Art Foundation and other major museums admire them. The current exposition of Parreno in Milan for the first time widely reveals his figure to the Italian audience. HangarBicocca creates that "choreography" of the space, which clearly follows the artist's script. According to the idea of the exhibition curator Andrea Lissoni, it features works that effectively combine light and music. So,illuminated installations from the famous Marquees cycle, which Parreno worked on from 2006 to 2015, can be explored to the accompaniment of compositions written by Thomas Bartlett, Agoria, Mirwais and other famous authors.
