Video: Julia Peresild: "My Strong Point Is Constantly Stepping On The Same Rake"
“Recently I found myself on the other side of the barricades,” laughs Yulia, who has just returned from “Kinotavr”, where she first became a member of the jury of the main competition. - During the judging, we never quarreled, although opinions often differed. But as a result, I completely agree with our common choice. And, you know, it feels like I passed the session at the institute. I was lucky: I studied at the directing department of GITIS, and there we discussed performances for days: we figured out what, how and why."
Peresild says that more than anything in the world he is afraid of non-freedom, he just dies of it. I used to think that she would be able to adapt - she is a sociable person, but over the years it turned out that no, she would not be able to. The most important thing is the right to choose and do what you want. She doesn't even have a work book - and she's not going to start one. If she feels any pressure in the project, she is always ready to leave. But this also has its consequences: Yulia has not had new performances for several years. “In exchange for freedom, you can at any time remain at a broken trough,” she concludes. However, the long-awaited premiere did happen - the role of Katerina in the production based on Ostrovsky's play "The Thunderstorm" (the next performances are on September 18 and 19 on the Main Stage of the Theater of Nations - approx. HB). Lover and husband by the decision of director Eugene Marcelli, artistic director of the Theater.Fyodor Volkov in Yaroslavl, played by actor Pavel Chinarev. “Zhenya came up with an absolutely brilliant move! - exclaims the actress. “After all, women who“fall for love”choose the same person all the time. It turns out that "Thunderstorm" is about each of us. And, of course, about the fact that there is no logic in the relationship."
During rehearsals, the actors told each other personal stories related to betrayal, parting and unrequited feelings. And they found out that everyone had the same "thunderstorms", fears and doubts in their lives. “Katerina is in love, and this is the main problem of the play - and the main thing is happiness,” says Peresild. - Disappointment is a terrible feeling, it makes you crazy. But in love it is impossible to protect oneself, and personally my strong point is to constantly step on the same rake. Maybe I will upset someone now, but it seems to me that love between a man and a woman does not last forever."
Friendship is another matter. In the course of our conversation, acquaintances who happened to be nearby come up to Yulia, everyone thanks and hopes to see you soon. She beckons and attracts, like a distant and at the same time close silent film star, in a white dress and with perfectly drawn Hollywood arrows. “I value friendship the most,” she admits. - It happens that you meet some person and think: well, everything, I fell in love again. And then the question arises: what next? It's easier for me to translate relations into friendship with an effort of will, because it is designed for a long distance.”By the way, Peresild plays not only heroines-mistresses in the cinema. Soon we will be able to see her in a new incarnation in the mystical thriller "Envelope" (filming has already ended, it remains to wait for the release). Julia herself admits that there will be nothing romantic in the image of a simple investigator - it is, rather, test of a new genre. Watching a picture can become as scary as from the films of her beloved David Lynch, when the main horror is perhaps very close or even in yourself. “I like to prepare for filming for a long time so that I have time to think and read. And here the script came to me at the last moment and I jumped on the departing train."
With her other new film, it turned out exactly the opposite: to the role of Laima in "Cold Tango" by Pavel Chukhrai (the premiere took place at "Kinotavr", and the film was released on June 22 - approx. HB) Julia approached thoroughly. When the director sent references for the main character's image, she found that she had nothing to do with the cold models of Helmut Newton with their long necks, thin fingers and red lips in a cloud of tobacco smoke. Well, and then I found my own creative method: I printed the pictures and hung them up so that I could see them all the time. “It will seem crazy,” the actress smiles, “but I started to change and suddenly I realized what kind of shell I had to get into.”
Any range of roles is generally available to this girl with the role of a folk heroine. No wonder the Swiss watch brand Rado invited the many-sided Julia to become her "face". “How lucky I am! - not without pride says the actress. - Friends-photographers used to get their hands on me, but all the pictures had their own owner. And Rado allowed me to use them for personal purposes, and now I have my own beautiful photography - there will be something to send to journalists. But how can you use public transport with such a luxurious watch?"
… The dug city is in traffic jams, and there is only one way: Yulia puts her watch in a paper bag, thanks everyone and flies to the metro to catch it before the storm starts.
