The St. Petersburg Cultural Forum next week will conclude with the opening of the interactive exhibition "The Arrival of Cinema in Russia" at the Faberge Museum: an installation about the origins of Russian cinema will be shown within the walls of the atmospheric Shuvalov Palace on the Fontanka. It covers a thirty-year period in the history of cinema - from the first works of the Lumière brothers to Eisenstein's silent films - and is conventionally divided into three parts. The first is devoted to the emergence of cinematography in the last years of the XX century, the second acquaints viewers with the heyday of feature and specific films, the third invites to plunge into the world of pre-revolutionary cinema, which was experiencing its golden age during the First World War.

Particular attention should be paid to a selection of rare posters and posters - the very ones, having seen which, our great-grandfathers rushed to the cinemas. To go back a century and feel like one of the first spectators, for example, recordings of the coronation of the last Russian tsar or the sentimental melodrama popular in the last century - for this, the Faberge Museum should be included in its cultural program for the next month. Pleasant news for true film lovers from St. Petersburg: in addition to screenings of rare films, the program includes lectures by the country's best film critics, as well as a series of master classes for young film fans.

Everyone will be able to touch the history of Russian cinema from December 17 to January 14.
