The story of Fendi's new stand at Design Miami / begins with the recent opening of the House's headquarters in the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, a true architectural landmark also known as the Square Colosseum. In 1937, it was built in Rome's EUR (World's Fair Quarter), specially built for the 1942 Expo. The latter, however, was never destined to take place due to the outbreak of World War II.

Among the designers, artists and intellectuals who were thought to be creating the “new” Rome in the 1930s, Guglielmo Ulrich stood out. He managed to achieve maximum harmony of furniture with the monumental character of buildings, and he did it so brightly that today Fendi are turning to his drawings. In less than a month, guests of Miami's busiest art week will be able to see what should have appeared to the public more than 70 years ago. Fendi Casa decided to recreate the items Ulrich had invented for that same Expo in 1942, namely a sofa, two tables, three armchairs and lamps, for which the finest leathers and fabrics were chosen. All of them, of course, will be executed with the standards and aesthetics of Fendi Casa, and also closely related to the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana space for which they were originally intended.

Knowing how attentively Fendi approaches the design of their pavilions at Design Miami /, with which the House has been cooperating since 2008, one should expect a great deal of scope from their new work. It will be possible to evaluate it from 1 to 5 December.
