The second half of July this year will forever remain in the memory of the inhabitants of Siberia and the Far East as one of the most terrible periods. For several weeks now, forests have been burning in the Irkutsk Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Yakutia and Buryatia: the area covered by the fire is 2.7 million hectares, which is almost equal to the territory of Belgium. The main cause of fire is dry thunderstorms.

The extinguishing of the blazing territory was postponed until the last due to the economic disadvantage - while all residents of the regions sounded the alarm and trumpeted that every day it was becoming more difficult to breathe. Smog spread to Kemerovo, Novosibirsk and other nearby regions.

Only now the question arose about the need to introduce an emergency regime in "hot" spots. At the moment, it operates throughout the Irkutsk Region and Krasnoyarsk Territory, in two districts of Buryatia and one district of Yakutia. This was reported by the FBU Avialesokhrana. The work to eliminate the fire is currently being carried out in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory: the Be-200 amphibious aircraft is involved, which is considered one of the best firefighting aircraft in the world.
