The peaceful protests that swept America after the assassination of African American George Floyd turned into looting in Los Angeles. Protesters ransacked luxury boutiques on Rodeo Drive today.

American television channel CBS Los Angeles showed a video of the robbery of the Alexander McQueen store. It happened on Saturday at about 18.00. Dozens of masked young men burst into a building with a broken glass display case and carried out clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and even furniture.

The same has happened with Gucci and Marc Jacobs boutiques, adidas Originals brand on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles and nearby Urban Outfitters. Three other Melrose Avenue stores - Dr Martins, Tony K and Reloaded - were set on fire by Protestants. The rioters also broke into the luxury Nordstrom department store and The Grove shopping and entertainment complex. There they robbed Apple and Ray-Ban stores. The protesters leave the words Make America Pay and F *** capitalism on the walls of boutiques.

“This is no longer a protest, but destruction,” Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti commented on the riots. Now the city has a curfew from 20:00 to 5:00.
